Little Go Beep

septembre 18, 2008

Someone in YouTube posted the rarely seen 1999’s WB short “Little Go Beep”. A precursor of the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote franchise. It’s in my book the last real good WB cartoon ever made in the spirit of the classic Warner cartoons.

New Pink Panther box set (again)

août 31, 2008

4 years after the Pink Panther Movie Collection and 2 years after the Cartoons, MGM/UA bring back (again) with the Pink Panther Ultimate Collection in a 18 DVD Box Set for november 25th. It include all of the Pink Panther movies (except Return of the Pink Panther, the only film not owned by MGM) and even included the weird but seems fascinating Inspector Clouseau (with Alan Arkin in a Pink Panther sequel), and the three later movies. Plus 9 other discs is dedicated to the Depatie-Freleng cartoons included three new discs (Rolland and Ratfink, The Inspector Vol. 2 who closed the series and a Volume 9 is a mystery).

I’M not sure to give 100$ bucks for this!

Lucky Luke Go West: The review

août 30, 2008

It’s since a longtime i don’t see Lucky Luke. Maybe two years after leaving the now pathetic show “The New Adventures of Lucky Luke”? Well yeah, the last years wasn’t the bests for the icon character. After two terrible live-action movies (Terrence Hill’s Lucky Luke and the god-awful Daltom movie with Eric and Ramzy), a comeback in comic books (La Belle Province and La corde au cou) and the 2001’s show made after Morris’ death, it’s like the real Lucky is dead and made for kids who know nothing in Morris and his art. But i can’t passed away by silent about the new animated feature Lucky Luke Go West: The Movie made by the awesome studio Xilam who made some of the most lovable cartoons shows from the last 10 years. (Space Goofs, Oggy and the Cockroaches, The New Adventures of Lucky Luke, Ratz etc.) Well yeah here’s my review:

The story passed in 1880 when the damned Dalton was in court for a hundred trial in the old New York. Of course, the trial was suspended due to the Joe’s terrible temper about Lucky Luke’s name. (It’s the same feeling i have about some obnoxious craps) The Dalton brothers succeed to be off of the court and decide to run of the town for finally hiding in a trailer after make some hold-ups in banks. But of course, Lucky Luke was in their chase despite a interruption. Later, the place when the Daltons hiding is invanded of trailers and it was strangers who buying their homes by Crook, (It’s his name!) and they had 80 days for make the trip of New York to California or their homes was sealed for Crook. Of course, the terrible Crook tried with his advocate to ruining Lucky Luke and the strangers when the Daltons trying to find their bucks in one of this trailers, but they never find!!

While the new movie supposed to be much interesting than the crappy new live-action feature, they had nothing new about the comic-book version. It’s just more a entertainment for childrens than for Lucky Luke fans. (I wishing to be a better Luke fan but i don’t) If the animations sound great visually, they hade the terrible habit to imitate the now-so-outdated John K.’s style than from the original comics, unlike The New Adventures of Lucky Luke when Morris worked on this before his death. I use to like the three animated features we seen any Holidays (Daisy Town, The Ballad of Daltons and the movie pilot from the TV show) because they are real classics but unfortunately, the new movie are a knack for the eyes and the ears.

The only good thing about the new movie is the caricature in the begin of Morris and Rene Gosciny, the unforgettable appearence of RinTinDumb. Probably the only interesting character of this movie. And also the cockroaches Joey, Marky and Dee make a cameo in this feature.

The DVD i rent contain three versions; the Quebec Dubbed version i feel a bit obnoxious but funny and representative from the others movies, the Original version (of course from France) and the English version i didn’t care so much. The only supplement is a commentary from the director Marc Du Pontavice and some draftmans of this movie but i heard a 2-disc set was available with more supplements features like a RinTinDumb small episode and a making-of. But tough, unlike Asterix and the Vikings who was a great and wonderful animated feature, Lucky Luke Go West is very weak about storylines and the character suffered terribly over the last years despite some good ideas.

I give in this movie a 2.5 star to 5!

Greetings, everyone!
